Emergency 2012 has a very unique plot and a very specific target audience. this is why I appreciate the development and continuation of the Emergency franchise. The game has room for improvement but is off to a great start. Many of the glitches and bugs from previous Emergency releases have been resolved in 2012. The game controls/interface has been simplified and slightly reorganized, and many of the mechanics and functions have been improved upon as well. The graphics, cutscenes, and music have all been updated but are still holding true to the Emergency theme.
Although there are many improvements in 2012, there are other things I wish were never removed or modified from the previous Emergency 4 (911: First Responders) game. For example, in 2012, you no longer select firefighters, have them grab a hose, and then individually attach each hose to the truck/hydrant of your choice. Instead, you now select the firefigters and click on a fire for them to fight, they will then AUTOMATICALLY choose vehicles to grab equipment from and select to closest truck or hydrant to the targer fire to attach their hoses to. This is very efficient and fast, but it removed the ability to micro manage the firefighters which I enjoyed very much. More importantly though, the ability to mod the game was removed in 2012. I believe this hurt the growing community of Emergency gamers, because all the mod lovers out there are refusing to upgrade to 2012. More options for all "factions" would make the game experience better as well.
Overall, I love the idea and enjoy playing this game very much. The campaign is challenging and the freeplay offers continuous gaming fun. Multiplayer should be the same as freeplay, although there is a severe lack in multiplayer gamers in this one, I never had a chance to play an online match, so that's something I can cross my fingers for.
