A real epic RPG

Dragon age origins is hugely reminiscent of Baldur's Gate in concept and gameplay, although I could see it being confusing for people who weren't fans of the genre back then. Yet the D&D fans (I am not one of them) may not agree with this since DAO's combat mechanics is modernized and simplified. However, the witty writings, deep characters, interactions and interesting puzzles really draw myself back to Baldur's gate and Knights of the old republic(KOTOR). the interactive cinematic in the game is highly inspired by KOTOR, but this is not a bad thing since keeping everybody happy is still important. RPGs used to be about telling a story with you as the hero/villain. sadly the most popular rpgs right now like diablo threw the core of rpgs out the window. But DAO shows a new way combining modernized tactical combat, dramatic story telling, and involving characters together to form a true epic.

Elder Scrolls are great, most people like cuz u can do what ever the heck u want, but dragon age is more driven by story and... story is basically the only good thing good about Dragon Age. Good magic and Combat

Maybe I'm just jaded by my love for Oblivion and the openness of that game. Dragon Age is NOTHING like that. I really HATE the camera and the way you can't do mouse-look. When you move the mouse it moves a pointer on the screen, not you're character or the camera. I hated that aspect of the game and after cussing for the first couple of hours about how bad that sucked, I just quit. What a MAJOR disappointment. Plus, the combat is very point-and-click. You just click on an enemy and your character starts shooting or slashing. I hated that too. I want to feel like I'M shooting my bow, or I'M slashing something with my sword. I don't want to feel like I'm DIRECTING my character to do something. Plus, you're given these "companions" that you have to drag along with you, no choice, and you can't just attack whoever you want, and. . . I guess what I'm saying is that it's not the game I wanted it to be. Really sucks. And the graphics are not very good either. This game feels like it came out in 2003 or something. It's really a step backward from a lot of he best RPGs like Fallout 3 or Oblivion, in my opinion. I wouldn't buy it if I were you.
