I was excited to dig into this game (finally buying the 'ultimate' edition). Now 40+ hours into the game I will summarize my experience and thoughts here...
I started as a human noble (excellent use of branching story in the beginning of a game). Overall I think the game is excellent IF... you have the time, patience, and are a little OCD you will get a lot out of it. I like the characters and graphics are descent (better if you download the texture mods). The story is kind of been there done that; however there is a rich history behind the land of Fereldon etc. This is where it bogs me down a bit. The many baground codexes and long diaglogue sequences start to feel like they really are dragging it out too much. The dungeons also seem to reflect this same design... just when you think you are about to break through and reap your reward for exploring and overcoming, bam you find another labyrinth or more difficult obstacle to overcome. Combining these elements with a game that is 'harder' than other BioWare titles and you may loose patience with it.
NOW.... that being said; I went on vacation, returned, breathed deep and tried digging in again and find myself having hours of fun with it. You just may find it is a game, if you enjoy the first 15 hours, that you can bury yourself in for a very long time. So keep that in mind but if you like 'Buldur's Gate' type games etc... you'll likely enjoy this one.
