I wasn't completely sure what kind of game play I was going to be getting when I downloaded this game. Even know, trying to explain it simply fails me, while still trying to show how awesome I found it.
It's a Choose your own adventure/mystery game. There is combat, but it is much more text heavy, though not so much so that it feels like conversation drags on. The story is the main driving force and it's what kept me going through the whole thing. There is no leveling up, no shop, or store. It's a rather straight forward game, though your interactions with things and people can change the end-game results. There are at least 3 main endings and several 'sub'-endings that could go along with them. The map is rather small, which is good, you (can) do quite a bit of running around, especially when herb collecting. The map is also awesome, as it lets you teleport between key locations.
Combat is pretty easy (just make sure to read the help/instructions. There was no in-game tutorial on combat). There also wasn't a lot of combat, and I never came close to dying the few enemies I had to fight. You only have one weapon in the whole game. No upgrades.
Sounds were great, little noises here and there that just added to the overall atmosphere, music was fitting as well. Graphics, well, they are what they are and certainly they are good enough for the type of game.
Glitches and bugs... The only main issue I had was the game crashing now and then (SAVE OFTEN!! Possibly a few files!). Hard to know if that's the game itself, my computer, or the fact that it's from an online download and not the CD. It crashed if I tried to change the resolution and would sometimes crash if I would switched off the game to another window. Saving often made it so this wasn't too much of a bother, especially with the 'Quick Save' function.
Overall, great game! I highly recommend it for people who like mystery/adventure games.
