I jumped into the Battlefield my first time on the original xbox with Battlefield 2: Modern Combat. I was blown away. The style of play was something I have never seen before and online for consoles was still somewhat new and exciting. Those two together made my gaming awesome. I have other gamers to thank for that.
The same goes for Battlefield 3 on PC..almost. The 64 player battles on PC are intense and a blast when everyone works together and supports one another as you are supposed to. This is rare though and its a problem.
The reason it is a problem on PC is because there is no built in voice chat system for RANDOM play. You can't just turn on your mic and talk. BIG PROBLEM. This completely deters players who do not have programs such as Skype or Teamspeak 3 to talk too one another and act as a team.
The battlelog allows you to drag your friends online names into the com center and squad up to talk, but we as PC players know that PC gaming "friends" are few and far between those we actually play with and those that just collect dust at the bottom.
It is not fair to assume or presume that the player has/or will download other ways of communicating. You should have come up with something EA/DICE! Origin for some is awful and does not work properly and the usual is problematic, hit detection, lag, etc.
What makes Bf(3) so amazing is us, the gamers. Every piece of HOLY SHIP!, OMG!, BOOOM! and excitement comes from you guys/ladies! Every cinematic is gamer produced. No rendering, no actors, just players. Playing online is a blast when it works properly thanks to those who play properly. It is rare, but when it happens, Wow. I support this 100%
EA supporting the SOPA act, I found after my purchase, draws that line of whether or not I recommend you buy this game. I will let you decide. All I ask is that you look up the bill and see what is in it. I do not support EA. I do support gaming and our rights as human beings. See you on the Battlefield.
