WWII Combat: Road to Berlin is an utterly abysmal mess of a game, featuring frustrating gameplay, cheating AI, irritating controls, awful graphics, laughable animations, dull audio, barely visible environments (unless you turn your TV up to maximum brightness like I did), and -- get this -- Allied soldiers that shoot at you! In fact, it's so bad that if GameFly had an option to give games a rating of 0, WWII Combat: Road to Berlin would be the very game deserving of that 0.
When you fire the game up and watch the opening cinematic, which shows a whole bunch of gameplay footage, you're going to be fooled into thinking that WWII Combat: Road to Berlin will be a solid budget-priced experience. Sadly, once you start a new game, you'll know that something's wrong. Basically, what's wrong is that the whole game feels like it got no play-testing whatsoever prior to its release.
The first level starts out in a room so dark that you have to keep moving around until you fall through a hole in the floor. Like I said above, it won't be as dark if you turn your TV up to maximum brightness. But even when everything is visible like it should be, the game is still so unplayable and completely bereft of redeeming qualities that you'll literally suffer severe brain trauma from it.
The controls are awful (see the "Instructions" tab for this game), and aiming feels extremely loose. This is really frustrating when you take the game's insane difficulty into consideration -- even on the Easy skill settings, enemies can shoot at you with pinpoint accuracy even when they're what seems like several miles away. All of your weapons suffer from sluggish reloading times and rates of fire -- even the heavy machine gun only fires at 2 bullets per second. The Allied soldiers shoot at you as if they were on the Axis side, which is really aggravating because killing an Allied soldier results in a mission failure. You can't even pick up any extra health or weapons...Just avoid this game!
