Fun on its own, this was made with longtime Sonic fans in mind. The story, while bare boned, references franchise tidbits and quirks, both good and bad, from beginning to end. Gameplay is fast, fun, and, in typical Sonic fashion, unforgivably cheap. 2D Sonic still doesn't quite capture the physics that made the originals fun, but it comes WAY closer to that bar than Sonic 4. 3D Sonic is no longer a hassle, and the camera is no longer your enemy. This is a game that rewards tight reflexes. Highly recommended!!!
