Excellent

Lives up to the Silent Hill Name!

This game is amazing! If you are a series vet you will not be disappointed, if you are newb- prepare for a thrillride! The graphics are very eerie (as always) and insanely detailed, the story will keep you guessing and the main monster Pyramid Head is BACK!
My only issue is the combat controls take some getting used to, but if you practice enough to get the hang of it, you can survive! What makes combat so wonky is the lack of a true "guard button", this has been replaced by a "counter" button that, when pressed at the right moment, will have you duck or block an incoming attack, so time it just right! Also, not mentioned in the guide book, followup a counter immediately with an attack to get in a useful strike!
This game is just awesome, psycological, and best of all scary and suspenseful! Worth a puchase.

Very Good

Glitch Filled

Great game, but beware where you save, because after playing 1/3 of the way through the game, a glitch prevents me from continuing my quest. My only option is to restart the game entirely, which I will not do. I've already invested too many hours into the game to restart now. Unless you're interested in playing into a game up until a certain point and being forced to start over altogether due to technical/glitch issues, steer clear of this cruel hoax. I've been cheated. Jeers to Konami's quality-assurance department. I'll be returning this game immediately, despite how good the game actually is. If you're a "gambler," then this is not the game for you.

Not what I was expecting

Being that I have never played a silent hill game before I was under the impression that It would be more like resident evil and less like alone in the dark. Well I was wrong!
Although the game is atmospheric, has good graphics and is definitely creepy I found the lack of save points and ammo to be a true annoyance. Maybe because I played it on hard I don't know. Anyone who rates this game higher than a 7 must be a die hard fan of the series, I was expecting more action and less aimless running around in the fog trying to figure out what to do next.
I am going to try it again on normal difficulty and see if it's more forgiving. On that note I'm not saying the game is bad or broken it's worth a rent, decide for yourself.
Resident Evil 5 can't come out any sooner, SIGH!!!
