I don't write reviews often so when I do its because something needs to be said. I loved Resistance since it came out. It was revolutionary and I love the second one just as much. I loved the weapon wheel returning, but I missed Hale. Main character is gone and despite that I didn't feel the connection in the story line with this one. The graphics were good, but I really enjoyed SP more on 2 and 1 over this. Online play well I got not online play. I have to pay $10 to do so. I can tell you that I played for hours CO-OP on Resistance 2 and I loved every minute of it. If you are a Resistance fan and have played all of them or not including Retribution take this game with a grain of salt. I give it a 7 so its not bad, but I won't make it on my game shelf to say the least....
Don't let the downloading and patching delay time keep you from playing this fantastic game. The PS3 has issues with how it manages games and load times, but we all need to get past that. This game makes the wait time worth it.
I played through the game twice. Single player and co-op. Both on difficult, and it was plenty hard. The graphics are astounding, the action was fever pitch, the variation of game play was large (including one odd off-shoot that I liked a ton), and there were several surprises. The gun selection was great, as you would expect, and add in the ability to upgrade weapons, and it is fantastic.
The only problems were the length of the game (completed each run in sub 10 hours), and I felt the ending was not as "holy cow" as previous games. These two issues kept this one from being a 10.
Excellent game, the best in the Resistance series IMO. Story was ok as was the voice acting. The gameplay shines and is ridiculously fun, my favorite level was satan and it involved an entire level battling a boss in various situations....something rare in a shooter.
Its pretty short I think I beat it in 8-9 hrs but immediately played through again since the level up progression is perfectly implemented and there is a game+.
One unfortunate thing to note is the move support feels like it could use a lot more work, and its worse with the sharpshooter which is why I would say rent and not a buy.
