Monster Hunter Freedom for PSP Reviews by Gamers

Monster Hunter is an awesome game. I never played the ps2 counterpart but upon seeing video and screens of the game in back in March, when I first got my PSP, I was extremely excited. Now that I actually have the game, I can honestly say the wait was worth it. It's by far the best game I have for my PSP. The level of customization in your character may not leave something to be admired but it works. Hair style/color, face, and gender are only real customizable parts from the get go, also skin color changes with certain faces. After you get into the game play, however, you then begin to see the true customization appear. The ability to collect items and go to the local smithy to build armor or a weapon is really fun, and quite addictive. Another major plus is the fact that you can Ad-hoc with up to four people total, some of the missions, from what I've seen will become immeasurably easier with a little help. There's also multiple weapon classes that are quite nifty. You can choose from a typical sword and buckler, a Great Sword, a giant lance and shield, war hammer, bow gun(which starts out as a crossbow but can evolve to practically walking around with a cannon strapped to your waist), or finally dual swords. The worlds are quite expansive and numerous from what I can tell and the game its self is a blast. Highly recommended I give Monster Hunter Freedom a 9 out of 10 on all counts

I didn't like MH for PS2 but this game has my full and complete attention. I feel addicted to this great game.
I cannot complain about the graphics except for the little things like when the character can walk right thru a dead monster as if it wasn't there. Controls get a bit stiff espicially in combat. I don't always feel in control.
Gameplay is EXCEPCIONAL. So is much packed into the PSP that I can't seem to do it. Between the Guild, the villiage chief, Training academy and Kokoto farm I've spent many hours without a hint of boredom.
This game is the best I've heard. Maybe not the music but the sound itself. With the earphones everything sound crystal clear. From the jingle of the armor to the calls of the velociprey.
Load time is a killer in the game. It disrupts the action between zones, especially on a wyvern hunt. The games loads when you enter a new zones, the guild, training camp, and kokoto farm.
If not for this horrible load time, and some learning fustration, I'd give Monster Hunter: Freedom a nine.
