I am a kid at heart being I am 40 years old and still play video games. Because of my age I have played max payne 1 and 2. For me the game really didn't have anything new. The graphics are awesome and the story keeps you guessing but the game play is almost identical to the first two. I don't know but I was expecting more from a game that was over 10 years in the making. All in all it was a good "not great" game.
Max Payne 3 is one of the best cinematic action games I've played since Uncharted 3. Rockstar Games never disappoints and with Max Payne 3 they set the bar for 3rd person action games. The gameplay is similar to the first 2 in addition to adding the use of cover and brutal melee kills. BulletTime is back and it's beautiful & highly detailed as with the environments too as you get to see in the Favela level. Gameplay is action packed, you'll get to dive and shoot your enemies like in action movies. With Natural Euphoria back as always in Rockstar titles, enemies will react to where you shoot them and Max looks realistic as he moves, dives, gets back up to his feet, etc. Story is great and oh so dark, brutal and unforgiving. James Mcaffery is back & did a wonderful job as voicing Max & mo cap too. Cutscenes are somewhat lenghty, but you can also pause them if you need a break, wasn't a problem for me; cutscenes also get this nice graphic with some words popping up like the film Man On Fire and it works because it makes it look more gritty. The music fits perfect with the tone of Max Payne 3 which is done by the group HEALTH. Story has high replay level so you can go back and do arcade mode and new york minute. With the addition of multiplayer is also a plus and lots of unlockables too, just needs a patch though to fix some minor problems like randomly freezing in a match and not being able to join your party... Go Free Aim for the challenge.
Gameplay: So simple, but fun 10
Graphics: It's a Rockstar Game, highly detailed, 10
