I am a huge Bioware fan, and have been ever since i first played KOTOR back on my Xbox, and i have been waiting for this game for a long time. i never thought i would give a game above a 10 but if i could i would give this game an 11. the story is smart and well thought out, the voice acting is great and the writing is even better. the lip syncing looks well fit to what the people are saying and it makes you want to keep listening to them instead of just skipping a conversation. It wouldn't be Bioware if there wasn't a "good & evil" aspect to the game, and there is, but being good or bad does not affect the powers you can use like it did in KOTOR. the character creation is well done and the back story you choose for you Commander Shepard has a large impact on the game. overall a fantastic and fun game. the only problem is it has some annoying technical issues in it.

Great game - a couple of small complaints...

This game is great, if you were a fan of Deus Ex: Invisible War than this game is right up your alley. I was a huge fan of Deus Ex: Invisible War and was very excited that Mass Effect would follow that sort of platform in terms of gameplay.

I'll go out and say that this is hands down one of my favorite games this year and I put it above Halo 3, but it doesn't mean that there isn't a couple of things that could've been improved, especially since this is supposed to be the first in a trilogy:

The biggest "problem" (and what keeps it from being a solid 10) is frame rates, it slows down considerably in certain instances and I was even greeted with a "loading" screen mid way through a run, I wasn't even shooting, just running, no going into a building, nope just running.

Another oddity is the customize character screen, really that's it? You get a handful of options, so many other games out have complex customization screens that the one included is quite laughable, but that's my opinion.

I feel that the gameplay far overshadows these little nuances but still these are small little things that could have been addressed before it was released.
