There are four sports in this game in which you can play: Volleyball, Dodgeball, Basketball, and Hockey. Very quickly you will realize the simplicity in which this game was framed.
Unlike Nintendo's two previous sports games: Mario Baseball and Soccer.which provided challenging AI and an interactive Adventure mode, this 4X sport game offers preschool simplicity and elementary AI. It offers Tournament modes, Exhibition modes, but overall It's just too simple. It appears that with this release Nintendo is appealing purely to those 10 and under. I think that for a younger age group this game would be very appealing. A group of small kids would probably really enjoy running around the court as Mario and flying in the air trying to shoot baskets. But this game will for sure bore average teenager and up, or any hard core gamers.
This game was disappointing to me because of how well done Nintendo has made previous sporting games. I thought there could have been more depth and challenge in this game, and was saddened to discover how simple the game play really was. Basically one button is used for every move in all the sports and after about 5 minutes you are left wondering is this it?
