Without any competition whatsoever its hard to determine if Madden is the best simulation football experience since it's the ONLY game of its kind. This year's edition has made some upgrades with player tackling, franchise, and several other areas. There are still some issues with mechanics. For example, if you've got a few steps on a defender and you throw the ball ahead of the WR, the defender can still bat the ball down and in some plays get an INT. It's impossible and down right irritating. The player tackling has been improved in the sense that you can hit a player being gabbed already but on the back end of that, you can chase a guy down and yank him back which is unrealistic. They also have pretty much eliminated breaking tackles for a big gain. You can break them, but will most likely get tackled right after. The AI still makes very dumb moves which allows big plays or causes you to miss big plays (not playing the coverage correctly on defense, linemen won't block, etc.). It has a realistic feel overall despite some of the flaws that they continue to work on. I give it a 7 out of 10 because it is really good football game but still has some work to do to be a complete simulation.
i love football I play it in real life and watch and I love madden. the game has great graphics and game mode but theres on thing that just pisses me off. The passing. Its near impossible to get a pass of in a franchise with someone of the best QBs in the game and secondary possions always seem to find away to your ball. With no passing options no matter who you have your stuck to run with sucks. Dont get me wrong i like it but it could be way better an can be very fustrating
