Fun Open World

I played the Wii U version before this one so I expected a lot from the 3ds version... I was not disappointed. Chase is a fun character. There is tons to do. To get 100% will take 40+ hrs (I am at 32% after almost 30 hrs but I am splitting time with a 6 yr old). I wanted more voices instead of having to read so much. I also didn't like the long load times that also plague the Wii u version.

Pros: Great open world. Lots of personas to build up your character. Take control of several vehicles. Some funny moments and neat set pieces.

Cons: Load times? This game has one of the longest load times of any 3DS game. The world is in 6? parts. So when you cross a boundary, you will tire of the loading. The fighting is unfortunately a joke. Button mash until they all get arrested.

Also: I was at first trying to collect all the items even after finishing the story, but that gets old quickly as some items require some fancy path. That path is sometimes impossible to see because sometimes the camera is locked and in scan mode, the graphics wash out.

The extra items won't help at all. They are there for extra fun, but the fun drops off after the story is done. I'm use to completing previous LEGO titles to 100%, but I'm done with this one at 38%.

I wish there was more to the story. I wish there was a New Game+ with harder enemies and keeping collected items, etc.

Lego Meets GTA

Even if Lego's were intended for kids, I know for a fact that no one can resist them, not even me. The ability to build, the humor associated with the franchise, and the games. This is certainly no exception, it's so much fun and so satisfying. Contrary to possible popular beliefs this is not a 3DS version of the critically acclaimed Wii U game, it's actually a handheld prequel telling the story of how Chase McCain became a cop and became arch enemies with Rex Fury. Then jokes make you laugh out so hard when you see and hear them, the writers did a good job. If you don't have a Wii U but have a 3DS, get this first because then you'll be ready for the console game when you get it.
