I had great expectations of this title. I thought it would make me smile as much as Yoshi's Island did ten years ago or even like Super Mario Galaxy 2 did just recently.
The game has cute, interesting graphics, but the music ruins it for me, as almost every song is slow and chilled out. That sort of soundtrack works for a game like Animal Crossing, but for an action platformer?
The level design is great, but there is zero challenge to them, as you can't die and most enemies don't hurt you. The levels can get slightly difficult when you try to collect everything there is to collect, but it's not worth doing so due to the shoddy rewards: 2D furniture cut-outs for your in-game pad.
Kirby's Epic Yarn is really more suitable for little kids, I suppose, and not for twenty-something year olds (Unlike New Super Mario Bros Wii or Donkey Kong Returns would be).
The game is very interesting with all new features as compared with other similar games. The ability to finish levels and not die, or have to start all over again really appealed to me. I made through the game quickly, but didn't find all the items the first time, so went back and retrieved them. Getting all the items in this game is the real mission, which can be a bit difficult to do without losing everything. Still the game is a lot of fun and I would recommend it to old and young alike because of the interesting story line.
