I loved GoW 1, thought GoW 2 was ok and I did not like GoW 3 at all. I actually thought this game was pretty fun. There was nothing new but the game looked really polished and the story was pretty decent. The game is really short 6-8hrs. So I would not recommend buying but this game is a solid rent that could be beaten over a weekend.
I don't play time limits. They are created by lazy designers who think that they add "tension" or something.
The time limit is "optional", if you want to intentionally play the game in a way that gets you a poor result. I don't want a bad ending, I want to play a FPS. I tried the time-limit mission one and a half times. That was one and a half times too many. I'm just yelling curse words at my screen along the lines of "where is that blanking enemy so I can shoot him" and "blanking move the blank FASTER already!".
If you want to remove the fun from a game, add a time limit.

It's a Gears of War game, so the game play is great. The story is alright, nothing too exciting. Horde is not present, which was a real let down for me. They've replaced it with a similar game mode that's just no where near as good as horde. It's worth renting, but definitely not worth buying.
