Didn't quite meet expectations

Admittedly, I have not played the previous Fear games, but I had high expectations for this one nonetheless. With a name like "FEAR", I was expecting to be scared out of my pants through the entire game, but I was disappointed that I was only genuinely frightened a few select times. I was expecting a horror game, but instead found myself playing a shooter. The lack of the scariness may have been due to playing co-op (which I loved, don't get me wrong but), I think I would have been more cautious had I played solo.The only other negative I found was how short it was! Each chapter only being about 30 minutes (if that) & only 8 chapters.I did really like the cover system. It's very easy to use & flows nicely (EI if you back up, you will come out of cover automatically).
The graphics were fantastic, I don't think there was a time where I was unimpressed by them. They did a good job with the scenery & effects.
The controls were pretty easy, much like any FPS game. The only thing I had trouble getting used to was to switch weapons (on PS3), you hit L1 rather than Triangle (which initiates slo-mo [which is kick butt!!]).
The story... I pretty much had no idea what was going on... I never really seemed to know what we were trying to do, get to, what was going on or anything. Probably because (as previously stated) I haven't played the other games. I did like how they give an alternate ending depending on which player completed the most challenges, although one ending wasn't very clear & the other was... pretty weird.
I do love the multi-player game mode called Contractions. It is pretty much like Black Ops Zombies only so much better IMO. They've added a few things to it, such as rather than buying weapons off the wall, you have to obtain crates out in the fog in between waves of enemies, & Alma wanders around the map... you'd be best to not look at her (;
All in all, I really enjoyed the game & I do recommend it. It's just pretty shot & not what I expected.
