Because most who say differently would just be lying to themselves. I'll keep this short and sweet. Spoiler alert.
The backdrop is 2027, and you are Adam Jensen, head of security at a huge synthetic bodyparts organisation called Sarif Industries. The first level ends up as a security breach... robocop... nuff said...

First off this was everything i was hoping it would be and more the graphics are fantastic, the gameplay awesome the control layout is a little wonky but i love looking down at the guy you snuck up behind and saying pssst YOU GOT KNOCKED THE BUCK OUT!!! loved it
Deus Ex brings back something that made old PC games so great: It's got a lot of depth, an intriguing story with plenty of in-game tidbits that will keep you submerged in the in-game world while you play. I love when your actions affect the game, positively or negatively, and you live with your choices. Grated most do not affect the main storyline, but befriend someone, and you will later see the effects on their lives which at times will come back on you. The game world is FULL of things to find, if you're willing to explore. Exploring in this game isn't just to keep your stealth method alive, or to take a shortcut: It's actually VERY rewarding.
My first run I took the cloaked, passive way throughout the game. I have to say Deus Ex's pacifist method is by far the hardest to achieve than in most any other recent game out there. Yet it remains fun.
My second run through the game was the run-n-gun type. The many weapons in this game make that method VERY enjoyable. I usually hate this method of gaming, but in DEHR is was great. The augmentation system is deep, and lets you choose many different methods for each stage of the game.
The designers made each level completely open and multi-path. You are NEVER forced to do things THEIR way or in some pre-determined method. The choice is yours: bust in and kill everything, sneak in silently, or find/make an alternative way to reach the objective.
Over all a great game in today's dying first person shooter world, a reminder that the FPS genre doesn't have to be storyless and bland.
