Rented this title after reading the overview for the game. After several hours of single-player gameplay and even more hours of Co-op, split-screen gameplay (which I'd definitely recommend) I'd have to say this game could easily be a game I'd own. Controls can be modified to suit the setup you're most comfortable with and gave navigation is pretty straight forward.
1 player and 2 player story mode seem to be identical, nice if you want to complete the game with a friend. Levels & trophies (PS3) can be earned with 1 or 2 players. If possible you'll want that extra gun and help since there are plenty of enemies in this game. The story seems endless and the plot will keep most interested. Graphics and art style are unique and really add to the post apocalyptic setting. Bosses are challenging and leveling up can be done as you progress through the game so you don't have to stay in one area repetitively killing the same low level enemies like in some other games.
Cons: Some of the cut scenes can't be skipped and map transitions take a little longer to load. Also if playing split screen your inventory menu cant be seen entirely and you have to use the controller to scroll over it...can get annoying at times. Some levels had frame rate and slowdown issues when there was a lot of firing/action happening at once.
Overall well worth the rent and worth the buy if you want to really take your time with the game.
