It delivers scorching multiplayer, fitting of its decade-long pedigree of famously expansive big-team battles, but stumbles over a generic single-player campaign that feels like a different game.
While DICE may not deliver a memorable story here, it doesn't need to when Battlefield 3's online warfare raises every bar imaginable, delivering one of the best multiplayer experiences of the year. I doubt Battlefield purists will complain much about the campaign, honestly; I know you're enlisting in this battle to bring down entire armies online.
I have to say when I got this game I was worried when I had to download for the Xbox the driver pack onto my hard-drive. I didn't have an expandable hard-drive so after waiting a week and ordering one and downloading the higher graphics driver I am so happy. The sound the lighting and the sure grit that the game has is fantastic! I was impressed with the story line, but if that is all you wanna do, then rent it don't buy. Only took 5.5 hours to bet the story but it was good. But I love the multi-player. Just the fact that you still have the great sound and picture playing online is awesome! On top of that you can fly a jet and a helicopter! WHAT! They are hard to master and take some practice but after that not a problem you will be racking up kills in no time!
Battlefield 3 had excellent single player game play but lacked length. It took approximately 10 hrs to knock out the campaign on hard. You can't get into the multiplayer with the rental which would have added a lot to the game and I decided not to do the co-operative missions.
