Another Year, Same Creed.

Assassins Creed is one of the premier franchises out in the gaming world today. It has enjoyed virtually instant success as soon as it arrived on store shelves. It was a franchise that offered something different almost satirical in its way of telling a fictional story through real life historic locales and events.
However, since the first entry in the series it has failed to do much innovating at all.
There is a lot of character progression in the form of Ezio and Altair, but fact is, because of the setting of this game I've never really gotten attached to either of those characters. They are merely a medium for Desmond to figure out how to save the world, so their love interests never really mattered to me.
The one aspect where this game delivers in spades for me, is the fact that it makes Ezio feel like the Master Assassin the game claims that he is. Ezio's abilities are obviously above and beyond what even the game's bosses can mustard.
This is however a double edge sword, because while it succeeds in making you feel like a true master Assassin, it makes the game feel rather easy, and by extension, it makes the main story line feel rather short.
This game has its faults, and the engine is starting to look its age, and worse yet perform at its age with a great many glitches constantly happening through out the huge map.
Which brings another con if you will. The fast travel method for this game, is one of the absolutely worse ones that I have ever seen in a sandbox style game, and needs to be addressed by the time next years game comes out.
Also, the tower defense mini games have got to go. Not only do they feel completely out of place, but they actually distract from what the games does well.
In closing, if your a fan of the series that would just like to keep up with how the story is prgressing, then rent it and play it, but if your not, do not look for this game to be the one in the series that finally changes your mind and hooks
